>> Alongside acting as brand ambassador, Margherita Missoni recently stepped up her Missoni duties as accessories designer of the brand and debuted her first Missoni handbag collection back in May.
Shortly, it sounds like she could be taken on an even bigger role; her mother Angela says she is considering stepping down as Missoni creative director within the next two years: "I was on a bus yesterday and I thought for the first time there are so many things I want to do with my life and whenever Margherita feels ready I'd let her take over. Who knows what the future will bring? Maybe Theresa will run things or perhaps my nephew or my son. Margherita has this incredible passion for the business and for fashion though - she would be excellent."
It's family tradition: Angela took over from her mother »

Who’s that girl with her Salvatore Ferragamo handbag?

Katie Holmes is! Spotted on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, Katie Holmes carried a dark brown leather Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2010 hobo handbag with a braided handle and metal gancio detail. Katie is always a fan of classic designs and this Ferragamo bag suits her personal style perfectly. Along with it, Katie paired Christian Louboutin shoes, a pair of jeans, and a military green colored jacket. More info via Ferragamo online.

Clearly, accessories designers at Tod’s have not set out to reinvent the wheel. They’re very happy with the handbag as we know it, and their designs celebrate the essential need that we all have to carry our belongings, combined with our desire to do so with a beautiful sartorial object.
The Tod’s Ivy Sacca Media Shoulder Bag is just that – a beautiful, simple object that performs its essential function without fuss or bother. For those who love Hermes but simply cannot afford to spend Hermes prices, a Tod’s bag like this one is perhaps the best alternative on the luxury mass-market.

I make the Tod’s/Hermes comparison because of this design’s emphasis on the beauty of the bag’s material. The putty-colored, pebbled Italian leather takes center stage, just as the unique and detailed leathers do on so many Hermes bags. And when you’re using leather as nice as both brands generally do, there’s no reason to guide the emphasis elsewhere. Tod’s isn’t innovative, but it makes beautiful, functional bags that don’t need any innovation. Buy through Saks for $1495.

I don’t know anything about the most recent iteration of The Hills because I stopped watching circa LC’s trip to Paris two years ago, but I do know that I hate Spencer Pratt. Also, I know that Stephanie Pratt is related to Spencer Pratt, and that means she’s probably got a bit of the crazy in her as well.
It looks as though she’s had massive facial surgery in order to stymie any familial resemblance, though, and I’m willing to take that as a good-faith effort to distance herself from her massively hateable brother. As such, she may continue to carry her Balenciaga City Bag with giant covered hardware. Since Balenciaga is my favorite designer, I feel like I should get to decide these things.

>> W Filming September Issue Documentary -Don't expect another The September Issue out of it, but W has had cameras around its offices, filming a documentary on the making of its September 2010 issue (which also happens to be Stefano Tonchi's first full issue as editor). The September cover is said to feature a group of young Hollywood starlets and relative unknowns, among them Emma Roberts, Zoe Kravitz, and Jennifer Lawrence (star of 2010 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Winter's Bone), and the film will be for Internet only, according to a W spokeswoman. It's set to launch sometime in late October on the W website. [The Cut, The Cut]
