Marco Zanini Takes Second Rochas Collection to Runway for Spring 2010

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — fashionologie @ 11:10 pm

>> Marco Zanini's new, more commercial interpretation at Rochas was so well-received last season, he kicked off Paris Fashion Week this morning, taking his designs to the runway for the first time under the label.  Anna Wintour was front row for the '40s-inspired collection with below-the-knee hemlines: Zanini said he wanted to get away from classic Parisian fashion, and instead imagined "a young woman going to a boarding school in Saigon."

The reception seems to be positive, if a bit unenthused. T's Anne Christensen deemed it "not what I expected but nice"; the AP concluded that Zanini made "a strong case for [Rochas's] resurrection"; Cathy Horyn called it "interesting, unhurried . . . I sensed [Zanini] was doing his version of French sportswear, perhaps inspired by the Rochas legacy"; and WWD noted that the collection had similarities to Dries van Noten's work, but "Zanini seems to have plenty of ideas and enough technical skill to put Rochas somewhere on the map."

>> Giorgio Armani Eases Workload -His hepatitis diagnosis in May and slighter figure in June when he presented his Spring 2010 collection have spurred many questions about the future for Giorgio Armani and his brand. Although he avoided questions about naming a successor last week, saying he has no plans to ease up, Armani announced three senior management changes today to help ease his workload. “The illness made me understand that you can’t joke with your life. For years, I ignored myself completely until I received this blow, which happened for a reason. I realized I had to be more careful. All the stress and mental and physical possibilities take their toll." He admitted to working shorter hours, but also noted that, “during my illness, I realized how much I need creative outlets." Kim Cattrall Oozes Givenchy Glamour

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — Shannon Mahoney @ 9:22 pm

Kim Cattrall Are you following us on Facebook? Personally I am a complete Facebook junkie and I have no shame in admitting it. If in fact you are like me, I’m sure you have seen the abundance of Facebook quizzes. I was not surprised at all when I saw the “What Sex and the City Character are you?” quiz. I try to stay away from the quizzes because I know I would get sucked in, but I was definitely intrigued.

So, if you did take the quiz, who got Samantha? I absolutely adore her character on Sex and the City and I cannot wait to see the new movie. She is so unbelievably proud, hardworking, sexy and glamorous character. It was no surprised that Kim Cattrall was pictured carrying a to-die-for Givenchy Chain Belt Maxi Nightingale on the set of the new movie. The rest of her outfit is fairly relaxed as I am sure she is in between takes.

I love the bag, dress, Ray-Ban sunnies and sandals. Wait… look a little more closely at her sandals. Did she just get done with a pedi or are those make-shift bandages around her toes? I would imagine running around NYC in super duper high Manolo Blahniks could hurt those tosies. Thoughts?

Alexander McQueen Teases Spring 2010 Collection as Fall 2009 Campaign Pops Up

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — fashionologie @ 9:03 pm

>> Less than a week before Alexander McQueen shows for Spring 2010 next Tuesday, his Fall 2009 campaign has appeared, featuring Tara Gill shot by David Burton.  The effect is much different than that amped-up dramatic show, but at this point we're already looking forward to what's coming on Tuesday - the designer has been busy dropping hints on Twitter like: "Dante's Inferno !!!!!," "TRANSMUTATION," "The Creationist?," "MEDUSA," "NEBULA," "HUBBLE PALLET [sic]," "FULL CIRCLE," and posting a picture to do with the origin of species.  Mid-September he Tweeted, "Fashion month has started with banality," so hopefully his collection will help change that.

I was shocked&so happy I cried!!! A dream come true!"  The show's front row could turn out to be like Marc Jacobs's of yore: she's been busy at work inviting Miley Cyrus and Sarah Silverman to attend. Update: Lohan may be getting her boldface friends to attend the show, but apparently a number of buyers have declined their invitations to Ungaro due to her participation. [StyleWriterNYC Twitter]

Jessica Szohr is Boho Chic

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — Shannon Mahoney @ 8:26 pm

Jessica SzohrThe new season of Gossip Girl is in full force. While some of us here at Bag that Style believe the plot line is a bit ridiculous at times, we can’t NOT watch it. The scandal, the city and of course the fashion continue to lure us in. For those of you watch, I am sure you have your favorite character by now. Even if you don’t have a favorite character, you probably have a favorite style.

When looking at it this way, Jessica Szohr is both my favorite character on the show and also possesses my favorite style. I love her casual look. Whether she is wearing a breezy dress or a great pair of jeans and cute top, her style is fabulous. Now, add her loosely tossed hair and you have a knock out. These pictures are no exception. Pictured on the set of Gossip Girl, Jessica wears a fabulously flow-y dress and a gorgeous turquoise statement necklace and ring. I need this dress in my closet!

Zagliani Suede One Handle Bag

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — Megs Mahoney Dusil @ 7:46 pm

Zagliani is known for injecting their handbags with silicone to add a super buttery feel to the bags. This is true of their python and crocodile bags. But what would make a suede bag from this line special?

Zagliani Suede One Handle Bag

I would assume the suede is super soft, as the brand continues to strive to be known for the way they finish their bags. But suede is suede. Soft to the touch but hard to care for as it shows wear and gets dirty easily. I am trying to decide my thoughts on the Zagliani Suede One Handle Bag.

The actual design of the bag has a very Hermes/Fendi look. I typically prefer two handles on my bags, not one like this Zagliani bag has. However I do find the bag to have a laid back downtown feel. There is a pouch pocket with a twist fastening that sits in the front and deep pockets that sit at the back of the lining. The brand is known for their super soft python and crocodile, so I wonder if their suede is unbelievably soft as well. Buy through Browns for $1,764.46

What do you think: Worth the price or over-hyped?

Gareth Pugh Goes Gray, Even a Little Soft for Spring 2010

Filed under: fashion — Tags: — fashionologie @ 7:04 pm

>> For his second major runway show in Paris - last time around he surprised everyone with a video presentation instead - Gareth Pugh, went softer, androgynous, and gray.  None of his until-now trademark hard-edged black and white palette to be seen - gray covered the model's faces, hairs, nails, bodies, and even blocked out their eyebrows.  Toni Garrn walked for the first time this season.

Showstopping plumed mohawk headdresses are an editorial shoe-in, and will perhaps soon be seen on front row guest Rihanna, dressed in Pugh, who marked the designer's first major celebrity front row guest (Adrian Grenier and Michael Stipe also attended). Both menswear and womenswear were combined into one show this season, which ended with the Cranberries' "Zombie" playing - perhaps symbolic of the season's "gender-bending zombie look," as the Los Angeles Times's Booth Moore put it.  More details from the show here.

>> Brian Atwood to Leave Bally? -Despite a Bally spokesperson dismissing rumors of Brian Atwood departing the brand - "Brian is still the Creative Director for Bally. He is currently working on the next collection and, no, he is not leaving" - multiple sources say otherwise.  Supposedly, the designer and label had been in negotiations, and he is expected to step down by the end of this year; he was informed of the decision a few days ago, according to one source, but plans to continue his eponymous line.
